Hens winery tours, and nobody's the designated driver

Our driver at the wheel, a tasting waiting at every cellar door, the vines doing all the showing off, and the bride on her third "this one's my favourite".

We build the winery day into her whole hens, from the morning pickup to the last toast of the night.

at a glance

A morning pickup. A tasting at every stop. One very well-toasted bride.

Different chapters of her life, plenty to talk about over the table, and a photo with the vines behind every one of them.

  • Three friends laughing with glasses of white wine outdoors on a sunny afternoon
    Glasses up, obviously
  • The bride in her veil and white heart sunglasses blowing a kiss to the camera
    Veil on for the photo
  • Five friends gathered round a wine barrel in green vineyard countryside
    Barrel-side catch-up
  • Five friends in heart-shaped sunglasses squeezing into a laughing selfie
    Group-chat gold
  • A woman in a straw hat holding up a glass of wine in a sunlit vineyard
    Hat on, glass up
  • The bride in her veil and tiara laughing as a friend hands her a drink among pink balloons
    Her toast, her table
  • Our driver does all the driving, from the morning pickup to the drive home
  • Two or three cellar doors, a tasting booked and waiting at each, and often a distillery stop for something a little stronger
  • Lunch among the vines on most of our winery days: a grazing spread, a picnic or two courses
  • Six of you or thirty, it works a treat
  • Winery days from six cities: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Perth and Adelaide

She gets the best seat and every toast. You get to taste the wine too, and the thank-yous in the group chat, with your name on them.

A reunion tour on the cards before the first one's even over. That's a winery day that landed. More real winery days

01 the first pour

What happens on a hens winery tour

The pickup, the first cellar door, lunch, the photo with her girls and the drive home. Five moments, one very happy bride.

A hens winery tour with My Ultimate Hens is a private day in wine country for your group alone: our driver does all the driving, a tasting is booked and waiting at every cellar door, and the bride's only job is picking her favourite drop, from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Perth and Adelaide.

  1. A hens crew in pink cowgirl hats and heart sunglasses settling in on the bus, the bride in a white hat

    One

    The pickup

Our driver pulls up where it suits you: the city, the hen's house or your accommodation. Bags in, sunnies on, the bride takes the best seat, and the first catch-up starts before the first tasting.

  2. A long row of wine glasses lined up for a tasting, catching warm light

    Two

    The first cellar door

Your tasting is booked and waiting. A row of glasses poured light to dark, bubbles and whites first and the reds last, by someone who genuinely loves this stuff. By the third pour the bride has a favourite and her sister has an opinion about it.

  3. Hands toasting spritzes over a picnic grazing spread of fruit, cheese and bread

    Three

    Lunch among the vines

A grazing spread, a picnic or two courses at a winery table. Her oldest friend is halfway through a story, her newest friend is already laughing, and someone's comparing the second wine to the first with great confidence.

  4. Four friends in summer dresses raising their glasses together between rows of vines under a blue sky

    Four

    The photo with her girls

One more stop, because the afternoon light is far too good to leave. The girls gather, the bride checks the photo and asks for one more, and you're in it, right beside her.

  5. A glass of white wine on a post above rows of vines as the sun sets

    Five

    The drive home

Windows down, playlist up, a few new favourite wines, a nickname for the driver and absolutely no intention of going home early. The night is only just getting started.

How the day runs. A morning pickup and an afternoon drive home, two or three cellar doors with a tasting at each (often a distillery stop too), and on most of our winery days, lunch. Twelve girls, one bus, and nobody drew the short straw to drive.

And the bride never once asks what's next.

Ways to do a hens winery tour

Five ways to pour it, from a private tour of the cellar doors to a whole weekend near the vines.

A hens crew throwing their arms up together on the lawn outside a winery

From Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Perth and Adelaide

A private winery tour

Your group alone, our driver, a tasting booked at every cellar door and a day that runs at her pace. Not a coach of strangers, not somebody else's playlist: just her girls, the vines and the best seat on the bus.

A hens crew dancing under neon lights on a party bus

On request

A winery tour by party bus

The same cellar doors with a louder ride between them: lights, music and the girls singing the whole way up the valley. The winery run is one of the ways our hens party bus rolls, and a stretch Hummer or a limo is one of the popular personalisations on our winery days. More on hens party transport.

A low picnic table set on the grass with pink rugs, cushions, flowers and a grazing board

On most of our winery days

A winery lunch among the vines

The lunch is the event: a long table, grazing boards, cheese, a glass of something cold and the view doing all the work. In the Swan Valley it can be a picnic among the vines. For the bride who loves her food, see hens party ideas for a foodie bride.

Two friends laughing at a warmly lit table with a glass of white wine

On request

A wine tasting without leaving the city

For the bride who wants the wine and not the drive: a tasting at a city wine bar or a wine walk, then dinner and the night. Got girls who'd rather shake than sip? There's always cocktail making hens parties.

A big hens crew together on a couch in an apartment decorated with pink and gold balloons

A night or two near the vines

A winery hens weekend

The winery tour as the centrepiece, with our own accommodation to come home to, robes on, the playlist still going and the cheese board somehow back out. See our hens weekend packages.

A gin, beer or cheese stop can swap in for a cellar door on request, so the girls who'd rather a G&T get their moment too. Love an on-request one? Mention it when you tell us about her.

03 the blend

Who a hens winery tour suits

She has excellent taste. Just look at the guest list.

  • Three friends holding glasses of white wine on a sunny vineyard terrace

The bride who genuinely loves wine

Real tastings, a host who loves talking about what's in the glass, and the joy of finding a new favourite she'll be ordering for years. Wine knowledge welcome, never required.

  • A bride and her mum smiling in fresh flower crowns at a long table

Mums, aunties and every chapter of her life

School friends, work friends, her sister, her mum. A cellar door gives everyone something to taste and something to talk about, so the different chapters of her life end up at one table.

  • The bride in a short veil hugging a laughing friend

The bride who'd rather talk than shout

A long table with a view, good wine and her people, and a conversation she can actually hear. More relaxed hens party ideas.

  • A grazing table of cheeses, crackers, jams, prosciutto, strawberries and grapes by a candelabra

    The foodie

Cheese, grazing boards, a winery lunch and a matching glass. Wine country is basically one long menu, and she's here for every course.

  • A big hens crew in sashes gathered behind a long table of plates and drinks

Six of her closest, or the whole bus

A small group gets the cosy version, a big group gets one very long table and a singalong that carries down the valley.

  • The bride in a sash and heart sunglasses cheek to cheek with a friend under pink neon letters

The pregnant bride and the girls not drinking

They're in every bit of the day: the drive, the views, the lunch, the games and the photo with her girls, and we always organise a non-alcoholic alternative. More hens party ideas for a pregnant bride.

And the quiet bride? She doesn't have to do a thing all day except pick a favourite.

04 the house pour

Hens winery tour rules: drinks, pace and the drive home

Our house rules for a winery day, in one breath.

The drive
Private transport with a My Ultimate Hens driver is part of every winery tour, pickup to drop-off, so everyone gets to taste. You included.
The pace
Tastings, not schooners. Two or three cellar doors is the sweet spot: enough to find her favourite, plenty left in the tank for the night. Lunch lands between stops.
The timing
Your pickup and drop-off times are set with your package consultant before the day, so everyone's on the bus and nobody's chasing a taxi home.
Your ID
Anyone tasting is 18 or over and brings ID. Cellar doors ask, and the bride's licence photo is half the fun.
The bride
Her only job all day is the tasting. Everything else is already on the itinerary.
The night after
Its own chapter: dinner, a rooftop, the dance floor. See the whole hens around the winery tour.
A tasting host in a wide-brimmed hat pouring samples in front of a wall of barrels
Pour, swirl, have an opinion.

05 the bouquet

What to wear on a hens winery tour

The outfit brief is being taken very seriously. The tastings, slightly less so.

Two friends, one in orange and one in a white dress, dancing hand in hand between rows of vines

The bride

White or cream, in a sundress or a linen set, so every photo finds her. A veil or a "bride" sunhat for the vines, and her sunnies for the lookout.

Three friends in summer dresses raising their glasses in a leafy garden

The girls

Pick a palette: sage, blush, terracotta or all pink. Sundresses or linen, a hat each, and the group photo takes care of itself.

Feet and the practical bits

  • Block heels, flat sandals or clean sneakers. There's gravel and grass between the cellar doors.
  • A layer for the morning and the drive home. Wine country cools down fast.
  • Sunscreen and a small bag. Room for a lip gloss and a new favourite bottle.

Pick the dress code, copy it to the group

Rosé all day

Dress code for the winery tour: every shade of pink, sundresses or linen, a hat, and shoes that can handle gravel. The bride wears white. Bring a layer for the drive home.

Sage and terracotta

Dress code for the winery tour: sage, terracotta or cream, linen or a sundress, a straw hat, flat sandals or sneakers. The bride is the only one in white.

Garden party florals

Dress code for the winery tour: florals, soft colours, a hat and block heels or flats for the lawns. The bride in white with her veil for the photo with the vines behind her.

Dressing for the rest of the day too? Here are our daytime hens outfits.

Best enjoyed with her favourite people

My Ultimate Hens

Blind tasting: guess her drop

How: over lunch, someone pours a glass out of her sight; the bride tastes with her eyes closed and calls it: red, white, rosé or bubbles. The girls bet on her answer first.

Win: closest guess picks the next song on the bus. Sitting out: pass, or be the one pouring.

Her finest qualities

How: over lunch, each girl writes the bride up like a wine: "Hints of loyalty, a long finish, pairs well with karaoke". The bride reads them out.

Prep: a card and a pen each, or her phone.

Win: the bride picks the best one for her label above. Sitting out: write one for the label anyway.

Cellar door bingo

Spot it: someone says "oaky", the bride takes home a bottle, a selfie with the vines behind you, someone asks for "the pink one", a cheese board appears, the driver gets a nickname, a toast to the bride.

Win: first full card gets the front seat home. Sitting out: just watch, it all happens anyway.

A hens crew in pink cowgirl hats and heart sunglasses cheering together

Favour ideas for every seat

  • A wine charm with her name on it, so nobody loses her glass
  • A mini sunscreen and a lip balm for the lookout
  • A bride-to-be glass for the bride, obviously
  • Her label, printed and tied round a little bottle

More games for the rest of the hens? See hens party games.

The playlist for the drive

Ten songs for the drive up the valley. Copy the list into the group playlist.

  1. Red Red Wine UB40
  2. Summer Wine Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood
  3. I Heard It Through the Grapevine Marvin Gaye
  4. Red Wine Supernova Chappell Roan
  5. Shut Up and Drive Rihanna
  6. Life Is a Highway Rascal Flatts
  7. Islands in the Stream Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers
  8. Valerie Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse
  9. Raise Your Glass P!nk
  10. Sweet Caroline Neil Diamond

The whole hens soundtrack lives with our hens party songs.

07 the cellar price

What a hens winery tour costs, and what moves the price

One price per person, with her whole day built around the vines.

Our winery tour hens packages usually sit around $200 to $400 per person. And the package is the magic: our driver, the tastings at every cellar door, lunch on most of our winery days, then the night, a rooftop or the full weekend, all built around her.

What moves it is the shape of her day: the region, the lunch, the wheels, and whether a big night or a whole weekend follows the vines.

Want to see the packages? Pick her city.

Will the driver and the lunch be good?

Thanks for helping me plan my hens party My Ultimate girls! It was perfect from start to finish and many glasses of wine were had. The luncheon had great views and was substantial as promised, and our driver Nikki kept us entertained all day, all the girls said it was the best hens they have been on which made me feel very blessed! Thankyou again and a special thanks to Nyree for ensuring the pickup and drop off times worked for all of my friends and that we made it to all the wineries on the day, and for your bubbly personality always making me smile in the leadup too. Thanks again ladies, love Beth L soon to be Beth B!

Is the day really about the bride?

Dear My Ultimate, Just wanted to send a MASSIVE thank you for the amazing wine tour that was on Saturday for our bride to be Clytie. We seriously had the best day and it's all thanks to you guys. Our driver John is just a sweetheart and we wanted to personally thank him too, he was so patient and enjoyable to have along with us for the day. Thanks guys, I can't wait to use you guys again in the future.

Hens winery tour questions

Everything organisers ask us before the first pour.

What happens on a hens winery tour?

Our driver collects your group in the morning from the city, the hen's house or your accommodation, takes you to two or three cellar doors where a tasting is booked and waiting, stops for lunch among the vines on most of our winery days, and brings everyone back in the afternoon, so the bride spends the day tasting and laughing, not organising.

How much does a hens winery tour cost?

Our winery tour hens packages usually sit around $200 to $400 per person, with the driver, the tastings and her whole day built around the vines. Pick her city to see them.

How long is a hens winery tour?

Our hens winery tours run from a morning pickup to an afternoon drive home, and the night after is yours to fill: dinner, a rooftop or the dance floor.

Do we need a designated driver?

No. Private transport with a My Ultimate Hens driver is included in every winery tour, so everyone can taste.

How many wineries do you visit?

Our tours stop at two or three cellar doors, often with a distillery stop too, which is the pace that keeps the day fun and the night still on.

What do I wear to a hens winery tour?

The girls wear a sundress or linen in a matching palette with a hat, the bride wears white or cream, and everyone wears shoes that can handle gravel and grass, with a layer for the drive home. More on daytime hens outfits.

What if some of the girls don't drink, or the bride is pregnant?

They're part of every bit of the day, the drive, the views, the lunch, the games and the photo with her girls, and we always organise a non-alcoholic alternative. More hens party ideas for a pregnant bride.

How many people can come on a hens winery tour?

Six of you or thirty, it works a treat: a small group gets the cosy version and a big group gets one very long table. Tell your package consultant your numbers when you tell us about her.

Can we do a winery tour by party bus or limo?

Yes. The winery run is one of the ways our hens party bus rolls, on request, and a stretch Hummer or a limo is one of the popular personalisations on our winery days.

Which wine region is closest to our city?

The Hunter Valley from Sydney, the Yarra Valley from Melbourne, Tamborine Mountain from Brisbane and the Gold Coast, the Swan Valley from Perth and the Barossa from Adelaide: Sydney hens parties, Melbourne hens parties, Brisbane hens parties, Gold Coast hens parties, Perth hens parties, and for Adelaide, start her Adelaide hens wishlist.

Can we make it a hens weekend among the vines?

Yes. A night or two near the vines with our own accommodation and the winery tour as the centrepiece. See our hens weekend packages.

Can we do a wine tasting without leaving the city?

Yes, on request: a tasting at a city wine bar or a wine walk, then dinner and the night, for the bride who wants the wine and not the drive.

Is a winery tour too quiet for a hens?

Only if you want it to be. The day is as loud as the playlist on the bus, and the last cellar door can lead straight to dinner, a rooftop and the dance floor.

Questions about booking, payments and the rest? Every My Ultimate Hens question, answered.
