Cocktail making hens parties, shaken for the bride

A shaker in every hand, your mixologist behind the bar with you, and the first round you made yourselves going straight to her.

We build the cocktail class into her whole hens, in six cities around Australia.

Where's the hens?

Rather talk it through? Tell us about her

Our cocktail making hens packages usually sit around $150 to $300 per person.

  • Your crewSix of you or thirty, it works a treat.

What the bride said

“My Maid of Honour planned the best hens night ever for my with the help of Heather and the lovely girls at My Ultimate Hens Co. They surprised us by putting champagne in the limo and our cocktail making class was BRILLIANT! Thankyou from a VERY happy bride!!”

Lee R., the bride, on Easy Weddings

That's the bride talking: the class was BRILLIANT, in capitals, and her maid of honour gets the credit. More real cocktail nights

01 shake

What happens at a cocktail making hens party

The short version: you get behind the bar, and the bride gets the first glass.

A cocktail making hens party with My Ultimate Hens is a hands-on class at a real cocktail bar, where your My Ultimate Hens mixologist host teaches the whole crew to shake, strain and garnish two or three cocktails each, built into a whole celebration of her. The class is where the night starts, not where it ends.

  1. A cocktail bar room with a pink neon letter wall, hanging greenery and high tables
    01

The bar is set for you

Shakers lined up, glasses waiting, the bottles glowing behind you. The girls who've never met find each other here.

  2. A bartender strains a pink cocktail into a glass at a hens class
    02

Your mixologist pours the first one

One round, start to finish, nice and slow: what goes in, how much, and the trick that makes it taste like the bar made it. Then it's over to you.

  3. Two hens laughing as they shake cocktail shakers in front of a lit back bar
    03

    Everyone shakes

A shaker each, ice in, lid on, and the loudest thirty seconds of the night. Your mixologist moves along the bar, fixing grips and topping up confidence.

  4. Three hens in white shaking cocktails behind a white padded bar
    04

    Strain, garnish, taste

Pour it, dress it, sip it. Every one comes out a little different, and that is half the fun of comparing.

  5. Hens in bright dresses raising pink cocktails over a long table of shakers
    05

    Round two, now with opinions

Two or three cocktails each, every one a little more confident than the last. The best one goes to the bride for judging, and she is a very generous judge after the second.

  6. A big hens group raising pink cocktails along a table set with shakers and bottles
    06

Glasses up, then on to the night

The cheers photo, the bride in the middle, and everyone already loose and laughing before dinner, the limo or the dance floor.

Three ways the class can look

At a cocktail bar. You're behind a real bar with the bottles lit up behind you. Glam, loud and very photogenic.

At your place, on request. Your mixologist brings the bar to the house, the apartment or our own hens accommodation, and nobody goes anywhere in heels.

With a topless waiter. Same class, plus your own topless waiter passing the garnish. The bride's face does the rest.

However it looks, the class itself runs about an hour to ninety minutes, and the night carries on from there.

03 taste test

Who a cocktail making hens suits

Short answer: almost everyone with two hands and a sense of humour. The long answer, crew by crew:

A hen laughing as she makes a cocktail behind the bar

Never shaken a cocktail in her life

Perfect. Nobody needs to know a jigger from a julep. Your mixologist walks the first one through slowly, then stands right beside the nervous ones until their first pour lands in the glass.

Two friends in sequins holding orange cocktails, close up

Not drinking, or pregnant

She shakes, garnishes and clinks along with everyone, and we always organise a non-alcoholic version so her glass looks every bit as good as the bride's.

Hens in sashes and a tiara clinking glasses of bubbles across the table

Mum, the aunties and the mother-in-law

Mum is usually the steadiest pour in the room. She'll be laughing at her own handiwork, and pulling out her new party trick at Christmas for years.

Black and white photo of a bride to be in a veil, laughing with a martini

A quiet bride

She's behind the bar with everyone, not up the front on her own. Her moment comes when she tastes the round, and she gets to enjoy it at whatever volume suits her.

Five friends in heart-shaped sunglasses squeezing into a laughing selfie

Friends who've never met

A shaker in every hand is the fastest icebreaker there is. Uni friends, work friends and the cousins are comparing garnishes like old mates by round two.

A big group of friends cheering with arms out at a riverside bar

Six of you, or thirty

It works a treat at any size. A small crew gets a cosy bar session, a big crew gets a glorious amount of noise.

What a cocktail making hens party costs

Our cocktail making hens packages usually sit around $150 to $300 per person.

That's the whole celebration, not just the class: the shaking, the sipping and the rest of her night built around it, from dinner to the dance floor, or a whole weekend. The package is the magic.

Do we actually make them, or just watch?

I just wanted to send a quick email to thank you for providing the most amazing service! Ashley celebrated her hens over the weekend and it was nothing short of amazing. The hotel rooms were so spacious and perfect for spending time with the other hens! The life drawing was an experience I don’t think anyone will ever forget. Thank you for organising the meeting room on top of this experience.

A highlight of the weekend was definitely the cocktail making. I was expecting to be making maybe 1 cocktail and just being served the rest. But the two guys were so knowledgable and extremely fun! The choice of cocktails were delicious! I am so glad we got to go there. I have attached some photos of our weekend, and I am more than happy for you to share them if you would like. Thank you again and I will definitely be using My Ultimate again if needed!!!

Can the bridesmaids actually relax on the night?

I was lucky enough to have my gorgeous bridesmaids organise such an amazing event which I have now found it was through my ultimate hens! I was also looking on the website and they had so many amazing ideas !! The night was fantastic, it ran absolutely seamlessly and my bridesmaids were never worried or stressed over anything on the night! Everyone had so much fun! We did a cocktail making course and beverage package with scrumptious food! Plus topless waiter! Everything down to the venue and the staff were ideal. According to my bridesmaids, the ladies at the myultimate head office were absolute gems to deal with, so personable and helpful and made choosing so easy! Cocktail making hens party questions

The ones the group chat asks first.

How much is a cocktail making hens party?

Our cocktail making hens packages usually sit around $150 to $300 per person. That's the whole celebration, not just the class, so pick her city to see every package and its price.

How long is a hens cocktail making class?

About an hour to ninety minutes behind the bar, and that's just the opening act. Dinner, dancing or the limo pick up from there.

How many cocktails do we make?

Two or three each, and you drink every one you make. The bride's goes first, obviously.

Do we need to know anything about cocktails?

No. Your mixologist shows every one before you make it, and the girls who've never touched a shaker are usually the most proud of their pour by the end.

Can non-drinkers or a pregnant friend join in?

Yes, absolutely. Tell us when you book and we'll organise a non-alcoholic alternative, so she shakes, garnishes and clinks along with everyone.

Can we do a cocktail class at our Airbnb or apartment?

Yes, on request. Tell us where you're staying and your package consultant will look at bringing a mixologist to you, whether that's a house, an apartment or our own hens accommodation.

Can we add a topless waiter to the cocktail class?

Yes. Cocktail making with a topless waiter is a favourite in Sydney, Melbourne, the Gold Coast and Perth, and on request everywhere else.

What should we wear to a cocktail making class?

Whatever makes her feel fabulous for the night ahead. Sequins, a theme or her favourite colour all work behind a bar; just leave the giant sleeves for after the shaking.

Is a hens cocktail class the same as a bachelorette cocktail class?

Yes, same idea, Aussie name. A hens cocktail class is a hands-on class for the bride and her crew, and with us it comes built into a whole hens night or weekend.

How far ahead should we book?

The earlier the better, always, so we can find her the most amazing package. Got a date? Pick her city and tell us about her.

If she'd rather

Still choosing? Hens party ideas, sorted by the kind of bride she is.
