What happens when a crew of seven cowgirls, bride included, gets handed paintbrushes and cocktails in a room of their own? The Wild West gets a very bridal makeover. Wild West Brushes is a Saturday made for the bride who owns more than one pair of cowboy boots, and for the girls who are absolutely going to match her. Think boots and bubbly, with a bride who is very much the star of this show.
The afternoon kicks off in a private room that is all yours, tucked inside our Melbourne CBD venue, where neon glows against pink hues and greenery hangs from above. With stunning decor and the door closed behind you, it's officially cowgirl headquarters. Cocktails land on arrival, one for every cowgirl, and the first toast goes up to the bride before anybody has decided which side of the easel to stand on. Then the easels come out, and things get wonderfully western.
Your own artist host sets you up with paints, brushes, canvases and aprons, then guides the group through a cowboy themed painting over two hours, one confident brushstroke at a time. Nobody needs to have held a brush since primary school. It turns out there is a surprising amount of cowgirl sass in a paintbrush, and by the halfway mark the girls are giving each other very serious artistic notes. The bride's canvas quickly becomes the one everybody wants a photo with, so get that shot of her holding it up with the whole crew crowding in behind. Every girl takes her western masterpiece home as a keepsake of the day.
Paintbrushes down, appetites up! A reserved table in the main dining room is waiting with delicious share plates for everyone to dig into while the canvases get passed around for inspection. Every canvas gets its moment of applause before the plates are cleared. The bonus cocktail is saved for your hen, of course. Rodeo queens get perks.
But this cowgirl isn't done yet! It's a short swagger, boots and all, to a fabulous cocktail lounge in the Melbourne CBD, where a cowgirl VIP booth waits for two hours of fun and the cover charge is waived at the door. The staff are in on the theme and keep the fun rolling under plush velvet and glowing neon. It's a very glam kind of saloon. Then it arrives: a surprise bottle of bubbly for the bride to be. Yeehaw! Here's to the bride, boots and all. With the dance floor right on your doorstep, there's no excuse not to show off those boots.
It's cowgirl from the first brushstroke to the last dance, and nobody has to plan a single leg of it. When the bride throws her arms around you in that booth, glass of bubbly in hand, and tells you it's the most fun she's had all year, tip an imaginary hat and take the compliment.
