A Wash Of Colour. A Splash Of Bubbly.
Watch what happens the first time a wet brush touches the paint. The colour blooms and softens at the edges, and seven women who have known each other for years all say 'ooh' at exactly the same moment. That is the feeling Soft Launch is built around: a calm, pretty afternoon of watercolour and cocktails in a room of your own, before the evening gently builds to share plates and a velvet VIP booth.
Your private room upstairs at our CBD cocktail bar is yours for two hours, with stunning decor in soft pink hues and neon signs glowing between the hanging plants. A house cocktail each is waiting for the first toast. Then your personal artist host takes over, with all the art materials and an apron for everyone. Your host walks the whole group through the painting step by step, so there's nothing to do but follow along and sip.
Keep an eye on the bride while she paints. That little frown of concentration and the tongue poking out at the corner: her other half may never have seen it, and now it's on everyone's phone. By the end, every one of you has a finished watercolour to take home, and the table is covered in paintings that all started the same way and somehow ended up completely different. Somebody will declare that the bride's belongs above her fireplace. Somebody else will vote for the guest loo. Both are right.
There's something lovely about a room full of her favourite people with their heads bent over their paintings, swapping gossip between brushstrokes. Nobody is checking the time, and nobody is looking at a screen unless it's to film the bride.
When the two hours are up, your reserved table is ready in the dining room. The chef's selection share plates arrive, and the bride's bonus cocktail lands right in front of her. Two hours of painting and she has earned every drop.
Then the evening washes into something glossier. It's an easy teeter to a Melbourne laneway, where our glam cocktail lounge waves you in on VIP entry with the cover charge waived. Your plush velvet booth is yours for two hours under glittering pendants, and then the surprise pops: a bottle of bubbly for your bride, poured out for the whole crew. The dance floor is on the doorstep for anyone whose feet start tapping, and by the second song that's everyone. Dance the night away!
When the bubbly pours and she clinks her glass against yours, she'll know exactly who painted this whole day for her. Frame that feeling.
