Wet Brushes. Happy Bride.
Here is your permission to take the hens slow and pretty. If your bride would much rather have a paintbrush in one hand and a cocktail in the other than a microphone anywhere near her, Watercolour Me Happy was made for her. Just the six of you, bride included, painting in soft colour in a room of your own, before the night turns up the sparkle with share plates and a velvet VIP booth.
Head upstairs at our CBD cocktail bar and the private room is yours for two hours: pink hues, neon signs, hanging greenery and sleek decor that flatters every photo. A house cocktail lands in each hand as you walk in. Before the first brushstroke, get the group photo under the neon while the aprons are still spotless, because they won't be for long. Your personal artist host has every art material laid out and ready, so all anyone has to bring is a good mood.
Step by step, your host shows you how to lay down a wash of colour and let it bloom. Nobody needs to know how to paint. The whole point is the gasp when the colours run together and the giggles when they run somewhere they shouldn't. One of you will paint a tiny masterpiece and another will paint a very happy accident, and both are going home with you tonight. Get the photo of the bride holding hers up, beaming like it's just been hung in a gallery.
When the brushes are down, the party moves out to your reserved table in the dining room. The chef's selection share plates start arriving and a bonus cocktail heads straight for your hen, because the star of the exhibition gets a little something extra. Cheers to the artist!
Then it's an easy teeter, paintings in hand, to a hidden laneway lounge where your VIP entry is sorted and the cover charge is waived. Your plush velvet booth is yours for two hours, glowing under custom neon and glittering pendants, and then comes the surprise: a bottle of bubbly for your hen, poured for the whole crew. Line the paintings up along the velvet for one last shot of the whole collection, framed in neon. Opening night of her very first exhibition, darling. The dance floor is right on the doorstep, and it would be rude not to dance the night away.
Somewhere between the first brushstroke and the last dance, she'll look at you across the booth with that happy, slightly tipsy smile and tell you this was so her. That's your masterpiece.
