Stay In. Paint The Town Anyway.
Hands up if the greatest nights of your life happened on somebody's lounge room floor. Your bride is nodding already. She wants her girls around her and a night where nobody has to shout to be heard, and Paint Night In Weekend is made for exactly that. Let's be clear, this is not the quiet option. It's the sleepover you all used to have, all grown up, with a city apartment as home base and an easel for every girl. And brunch? It turns up the next morning while everyone is still in their pyjamas. Her hens, her rules. And her rules involve snacks!
The weekend begins the second you check in and drop the bags. There's a bed for every guest, so nobody is watching the clock or haggling over a lift home, and the whole night gets to unfold at its own giggly pace. Then the boxes come out and the room transforms. Every girl gets her own creative kit: a wooden easel with a stretched canvas perched on top, a proper set of paints and brushes, a palette for mixing and famous artwork references for when inspiration needs a nudge.
Crack open your canned cocktail, in the flavours the group picked, and press play on the step-by-step tutorial, your creative guide for the night. Nobody needs to be the artistic one. The tutorial walks you through it one brushstroke at a time, and somewhere around the second layer of paint the competitive streak comes out. Someone insists the wobbly sunset was intentional. Someone else turns out to be secretly brilliant. And your bride sits right in the middle of it all, brush in one hand and cocktail in the other, crowned the unofficial judge of the gallery.
While the paint dries, line the canvases up along the wall and get the group shot: the bride front and centre holding hers up proudly, with every one of her girls and their masterpieces behind her. That one is headed straight for the group chat. Then dinner is whatever the group is craving. Order in your favourites and pour the bottles you love. Keep the playlist going as late as you like, because tonight the party is wherever you happen to be sitting. Fancy a little eye candy topping up the glasses while you paint? Add a topless waiter and watch the concentration levels plummet.
Then comes the part everyone underestimates: the morning after. Brunch is delivered to you, delicious brunch grazing with a mix of sweet and savoury, so the debrief can start before anyone has found her other sock. The canvases come back out for a second viewing and the stories get taller by the minute. And the bride wakes up surrounded by the people who love her most.
It suits the group that would rather be in their comfiest clothes than in a queue, from the friend who hasn't picked up a paintbrush since Year Seven to the one already deciding where hers will hang. And when your bride looks around that room at her girls and the glorious, painty mess you all made together, you'll be sitting right beside her on that floor, paint on your fingers, knowing you nailed it. Every gallery needs a curator, and she knows exactly who hers is.
