The overnight bag is the first clue this is going to be good. Skincare gets packed with unreasonable optimism, three outfits come along for one night out and somebody brings a hair tool powerful enough to service the entire room. Glow Before The Vows Weekend gives the humble catch-up the full upgrade before the bride's big day: a skin session each, a night at the Ultimate Hens Bachelorette Pad Apartment, pizzas by the river and drinks to finish. You are not squeezing time with the bride into a few hours. You are moving in for the weekend.
First, the pampering. Settle into your reserved seats at our beauty bar, bubbly in hand and no plans beyond this one. Two at a time, the girls head in for a 45 minute skin session tailored to their own skin goals, with lymphatic massage, while everyone else catches up. Somewhere in the middle, a surprise cocktail finds its way to the bride. The only decision required is who goes in first. We'd send her.
Afterwards the Bach Pad takes over, and the sleepover has had a very grown-up glow of its own. Bags spill open and the usual beauty cabinet swapping begins. The building's pool, spa, sauna and steam room are waiting if you fancy stretching the pampering out a little longer. Take a dip, put the music on and enjoy having no reason to rush the getting ready part.
Eventually, the outfits get their moment. At our riverside restaurant, the reserved table has a glass of bubbly each ready, and the bride's cocktail too. Pizzas, salads and fries make their way across the table while the conversation does what it always does when the girls finally have time together: one story turns into the next and nobody notices how long you've been sitting there.
And the night still has somewhere to go. A reserved area at our bar by the river is yours for two hours, along with a bottle of bubbly for the group. This is usually where a good hens weekend develops a sequel. Somebody mentions another city, someone else opens the calendar and suddenly a trip after the honeymoon has potential dates. Apparently being thoroughly spoilt together is very persuasive.
Later, the Bach Pad is waiting and nobody has to be the first to call it a night. The night gets to end when you actually want it to. Turns out adding a night together to the humble catch-up was excellent decision making after all.
