Teaching this group how to make cocktails feels slightly dangerous, but here we are. Cocktails & Commitment Weekend is lunch by the river, a hands-on cocktail class and a rooftop round, with the Ultimate Hens Bachelorette Pad Apartment in the middle of it all. That's an entire hens weekend built around good food, good cocktails and actually having time with her favourite people. You're leaving with a suspiciously useful new party trick.
Lunch is at a reserved table in our bar by the river. A glass of bubbly each, a cocktail for the bride and share plates are waiting. One conversation turns into another and somebody inevitably remembers the thing she's been meaning to tell everyone since the group chat three weeks ago.
Then everyone regroups at the Bach Pad to get ready. Bags get dropped, the playlist goes on and everyone claims their corner. There are outfits to approve, makeup bags to raid and several people attempting to use the same mirror at once. Eventually everyone makes it out the door.
Then it's time to earn your Cocktails & Commitment stripes. At our laneway cocktail lounge, your My Ultimate Hens mixologist host gets everyone shaking and shows you how the good stuff actually comes together. You'll make and shake three cocktails each, learning the tricks behind getting the balance right before enjoying the very satisfying reward of drinking something you made yourself. Share plates keep the table going between rounds, somebody discovers an alarming natural talent with a cocktail shaker and suddenly making these at home seems like an excellent idea.
By the end, everyone has picked up a few tricks worth remembering and probably found a favourite worth attempting again at home. Whether anyone remembers the exact measurements when that happens is a problem for another day. Our groups get discounted cocktails at the lounge, but for now, there's a rooftop calling.
Head up to our rooftop bar. A reserved area is waiting, with a cocktail each served in jugs to share and a bonus shaken cocktail for the bride. Settle in, compare your newly informed opinions on what's in your glass and enjoy being on the customer side of the bar again. The cocktail menu is discounted too, should anyone wish to further their education.
From there, the night is yours. Stay rooftop until close and let the conversation keep going, or head home to the Bach Pad for the debrief. By now somebody is planning a home cocktail night, somebody else has appointed herself group bartender and everyone has a suspicious amount of confidence about what belongs in a properly balanced drink.
