How Low Can She Go?
Bend those knees, ladies, because tonight everybody is going low for the bride. Drop It Like A Hen is a twerking night for the whole crew: the cousins, the uni girls, the work wife and the sister who has been practising in secret. Nobody needs to be good at it. The laughing is the point, and there is going to be a lot of it.
The celebration starts in a VIP room of your own right in the middle of Melbourne, a pink, neon-lit dream built for hens photos, with hanging greenery and stunning decor in every corner. The room is yours for two whole hours, and a round of cocktails is handed out as you arrive. Cheers to the bride before anyone has even sat down!
Then your private dance instructor turns the music up and the class begins. For one hour it's all fun, flirty moves, with fun accessories for the group to play with and a costume for the bride, who is officially front and centre. The more of you there are, the louder it gets. There will be a line of hens bent at the knee, a row of phones propped up against the handbags, a chorus of screaming every time someone nails it and at least one aunty who refuses to be outdone.
Somebody quietly fixes the bride's hair, somebody else posts the first clip, and then it's out to the reserved seating area in the dining room, where delicious share plates from the chef get passed up and down the table while the stories get taller. A bonus cocktail goes to the bride, for services to the dance floor.
But the night isn't over yet, ladies! Out the door and round the corner, a Melbourne laneway is hiding our glam cocktail lounge. There's no cover charge to pay and VIP entry is sorted for the group. Inside, your reserved VIP booth is waiting for two whole hours, dressed in plush velvet under custom neon signs and glittering pendants. Then a surprise bottle of bubbly for your hen arrives, and the whole booth erupts.
The dance floor is right on your doorstep, and this is where the afternoon's lesson pays off. One song in, the bride takes her position and the whole crew drops it like a hen behind her. Everyone dances the night away, and your phones will run out of storage.
